Accused uses mobile, laptop in Bhondsi jail, alleges victim's family

Sumit is accused of murdering his wife, Ruchi Bhuttan (28), in July 2010. He was allegedly having an affair with model Meera Chopra.

The family of the deceased filed a complaint in a Gurgaon court on Wednesday. The court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Manvika Banswal, will hear the complaint on Thursday.

In the application filed by counsel Durgesh Bokan, the family has also complained against the Bhondsi jail superintendent for allegedly allowing Sumit to use a mobile phone and laptop.

"We have evidence to prove our complaint. We will present it before the court," said Bokan.

Refuting the allegations, Bhondsi jail superintendent Harender Singh, said, "An NGO has also written to me recently that inmates were using mobile phones. We conducted thorough checks but did not find anything."

The court will hear the plea to summon them on January 24.

Sumit faces charges under Sections 304 (b) (dowry death), 302 (murder), 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC.
