Admin assures all steps in place for hitch-free Chhath Puja in Gurgaon

Designated ghats in Gurgaon have been decked up and roads are being cleaned for Chhath Puja

The district administration and the police are gearing up to make every arrangement to ensure people celebrate Chhath Puja peacefully on Thursday and Friday. Over two lakh people in the city hail from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and offer prayers to the rising and setting Sun.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has made arrangements for water and mobile toilets for devotees at the behest of commissioner V Umashankar.The arrangements are aimed at ensuring that the puja passes off without a hitch.

Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said, “I have issued instructions to the police and administration to ensure Chhath puja happens in a peaceful manner.”

Satyendra Singh, chairman, Purvanchal Ekta Manch, said, “We met the MCG commissioner Umashankar and commissioner of police Sandeep Khirwar and they assured that all arrangements have been made to ensure no disturbances happen during the puja. More than two lakh people from eastern UP and Bihar perform Chhath Puja in Gurgaon.”

Vishw Vijay Jha, president, Mithilanchal Jan Seva Manch, said, “We are taking care of all 35 ghats and sites for Chhath Puja and are in touch with the MCG officials and police to ensure things remain hitch-free. We are trying best to keep roads free for women who will be on fast till the puja ends on Friday morning. We have displayed contact numbers of all persons in charge of every ghat and are coordinating with them. We will fill all artificial ponds or pools with water early on Thursday where women offer Arghya to Sun God.”

Some of the major ghats are Sheetla Mata Mandir, Sector 4 Fountain Park, Surat Nagar Lake, Devilal Colony, Chakkarpur and Maruti Kunj and Dundahera, among others.

YS Gupta, joint commissioner, MCG, said, “The MCG has provided water and santitation workers for the Puja and has made lighting arrangements at ghats to ensure the devotees are not inconvenienced. Streetlights have also been installed at many roads leading to the ghats.”
