Gurgaon: Doctor’s house burgled in Ardee City, another theft in Sector 56

Valuables worth over Rs4 lakh were stolen from two houses in the city on Sunday in separate incidents reported to the police.

In the first incident, a doctor’s residence in Ardee City was allegedly burgled and Rs30,000 in cash, four mobiles, an iPad and jewellery were stolen by unidentified people, police said.

The complainant, Dr Rahul Khare, son of retired brigadier KD Khare, was out of the city for two days. In his absence, his first-floor residence in a building in Ardee City was burgled, police said.

The victim alleged that an unidentified person had broken the lock of his house and stolen valuables that include four mobiles, an iPad, jewellery, collection coins, four wrist watches and Rs30,000 in cash, police said.

“Further investigations are underway and we are trying to recover the lost possessions,” said assistant sub-inspector Sanjay Singh of Sushant Lok police station.

In a similar incident, a house in Sector 56 was allegedly burgled on Sunday when the owner was away.

The victim, Dhruv Kumar, in his complaint to police stated that his house was broken into by an unknown person who stole jewellery, a laptop, and cash. The total worth of the stolen valuables is around Rs2,50,000, police said.

Both complaints have been filed under sections 454 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for trespassing and theft. Under section 454, a person who commits trespass to commit a crime with any offence punishable with imprisonment shall be imprisoned for up to three years. Under Section 380, any person who commits theft in a house can be imprisoned for up to seven years.
