The city is home to a good number of foreigners but most of them live in illegal accommodations. Only 58 guest houses and hotels have been registered with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) out of a total 3,000 operating across Gurgaon.

As part of measures to make the guest house registration process online, the FRO had conducted a seminar on March 23. “Nearly 250 owners of guest houses and hotels attended the seminar but a majority of them were reluctant in getting themselves registered,” said Lekh Ram Yadav, in-charge of FRO at the Mini Secretariat.
Earlier this year, the FRO had listed 250 defaulters. Twelve units were issued notices for renting out their premises to foreigners without giving details to the police or procuring the licence.
As per norms, it is mandatory for hotel owners to give details of foreigners staying in their premises for police verification.
