Gurgaon: Industries refuse to comply with MCG property tax notice

MCG joint commissioner Rohit Yadav had issued directions for attaching properties and the MCG officials, accordingly, sealed the properties under relevant provisions of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.

The MCG officials had sealed two residential properties in Sector 37 last week.

“Notices have been sent to 604 establishments asking owners to clear dues before February 28. Taxpayers owe the MCG over Rs 250 crore in property tax and, hence, the MCG is taking stringent measures for recovery,” SS Rohilla, spokesperson, MCG.

After learning of a 68% dip in property tax collection in 2016 as compared to the previous year, MCG officials send attachment notices a month earlier than usual to increase collection prior to the end of the financial year.
