An owner of a playschool was booked for brutally assaulting and abusing a three-year-old girl on Wednesday in Bhondsi.

Maya Devi, who owns Gayatri Devi Playschool in Bhondsi, also assaulted the girl’s mother and grandmother when they confronted her, the police said. She has been booked under Section 323 (assault) and Section 506 (threatening for life) of the Indian Penal Code at the Bhondsi police station.

According to the police, the grandmother told the police that her granddaughter used to go to Maya’s playschool located near their house.

On Wednesday afternoon, when the girl returned home, she was bleeding from her head. The family members went to the playschool but, it was closed for the day. So, on Thursday morning they visited the school again and confronted Maya.

The accused, at first, tried to change the topic but, when the family members insisted, she confessed to have assaulted the child. She also told them not to interfere in the school’s matters.

“The accused brutally assaulted the child’s mother when she got angry about the incident. When the grandmother tried to intervene, Maya pushed her aside and bit her finger,” inspector Vikram Nehra, station house officer of the Bhondsi police station, said.

This is not the first time Maya has assaulted a child, the police said. Earlier too, she used to lock children in the bathroom on the first floor of her playschool. She is currently on the run and the police are conducting raids to arrest her.
