Man jumps to death from Gurgaon high-rise in full public view

A 21-year-old mentally unstable man committed suicide on Monday by jumping off the 19th floor of a residential high-riswe in Gurgaon in the presence of a large crowd, including the police.

Satyawan Singh, a resident of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, climbed the building in Sector 50 at 10am after an alleged salary dispute with the builder and started threatening the police and building guards that he will jump off. Singh, who worked as an electrician, killed himself at around 12.30pm.

According to police, Singh used to live in a rented accommodation with his brother in village Tigara, Sector 57. His brother said in his statement that Singh was undergoing treatment for depression under a psychiatrist in Gurgaon since the last three years, they added.

He was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead, said police. No suicide note has been found by the police yet.

A police team, fire tenders and his relatives had reached the spot and tried to convince Singh but he was adamant and took the extreme step, said police.

“We do not suspect any foul play. It is a clear suicide case,” Yadav added.

Sadar Police are taking a statement of the family members who were at the spot of the suicide. They will register a case of accidental death.
