The official trailer for A Quiet Place, a new horror film by the husband-wife-duo, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, was released online on Tuesday, and it teases a novel concept that is sure to excite fans of horror cinema.

The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world and focuses on the couple and their two children. In this world, mysterious supernatural creatures have taken over and what’s left of humanity must hide in silence because any little noise could attract the creatures and spell doom. So to protect their kids - another baby is on the way - Krasinski and Blunt’s characters communicate in sign language and survive by changing homes.

The trailer teases several set-pieces from the film, the most outrageous being the one right at the end. Blunt’s character realises that her water has broken and steps into a bath tub to deliver her baby. But she can’t make a sound. It pays to have an actor as talented as Emily Blunt in that scene, you can tell. While this scene would have worked better had it been kept a secret, it works as a tool to entice audiences.

The film is scheduled to open the South by Southwest festival on March 9, perhaps in an effort to build buzz before its April 6 release in the US.

Here’s what Twitter is saying about the trailer:
