Gods of Egypt director Alex Proyas has immediately responded to the backlash his film has been receiving with regards to the lack of diversity in its casting.

The flick was immediately criticised on the social media after its first trailer was released with celebrities leading the call for more diversity in casting, reports News.com.au.
Proyas released a statement regarding the issue in which he said, “The process of casting a movie has many complicated variables, but it is clear that our casting choices should have been more diverse. I sincerely apologise to those who are offended by the decisions we made.”
