The first reactions to Wonder Woman, the fourth film in Warner Bros. DC Extended Universe, are out - and fans should breathe a sigh of relief because they’re all uniformly positive.

Following the negative reception to 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, Warner Bros’ superhero universe got off to an unsteady start. And with rumours swirling around that the upcoming Justice League film is in trouble (the latest reports said that the film had almost completely been reshot), Wonder Woman had a lot riding on it.
Fans would be glad to know that the moment the studio lifted the embargo on non-spoiler social media reactions, the internet was flooded with tweets from the journalists who were given advance screenings. Full reviews are still under embargo.
Critics praised the film’s tone and writing, Patty Jenkins’ direction and Gal Gadot’s performance. The Israeli actor made her first appearance as the superhero in Batman v Superman, and will reprise her role in November’s Justice League.
