Kate Winslet to star with Idris Elba in new romantic drama

The romantic drama tells of a woman, engaged to be married, and a surgeon who charter a plane to get them home after inclement weather delays their flight. When the plane crashes in a snowy wilderness, the two must work together to survive.

Actress Kate Winslet is apparently in talks to join Idris Elba in new romance-survival drama, The Mountain Between Us. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old Titanic star is in negotiations over a role in 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of Charles Martin’s 2010 bestselling novel.

The original book follows an engaged woman who charters a flight home to avoid weather delays. She then meets a surgeon on the flight and falls in love, but when the plane crashes, the two must work together to survive the mountain wilderness.

Paradise Now helmer Hany Abu-Assad is directing the romantic drama, with Chris Weitz writing the most recent draft of the film.
