Bource beat Abel Korzeniowski for W.E., Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Howard Shore for Hugo and John Williams for War Horse to walk away with the trophy.

Directed by Michel Hazanavicius, the film is about a silent movie star George Valentin, who wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion.
