Co-writer and star Simon Pegg says the character Jaylah in the upcoming sci-fi action film Star Trek Beyond is inspired by Jennifer Lawrence.
The 46-year-old Mission Impossible star said Lawrence’s role in the 2010 film Winter Bone was the inspiration for Jaylah, reported Femalefirst.

Played by Sofia Boutella, the character is a new face in the Star Trek universe.

“Jaylah is actually named after Jennifer Lawrence in Winter Bone. We were trying to create this very independent character. But we didn’t have a name for it. So we just called it ‘Jennifer-Lawrence-In-Winter’s-Bone’,” Pegg said.

{{/usCountry}}While giving details of how whole name changed into Jaylah, Pegg said, “That’s a long name. So it started getting tiring always saying, well Jennifer-Lawrence-In-Winter’s-Bone is fighting here. So then we started calling her J-Law. And then she became Jaylah.”
