The Andhra Pradesh Police on Wednesday dismissed an inspector from service weeks after he allegedly raped his 40-year-old tenant at Vinukonda in the Palnadu district in April.
Guntur range deputy inspector general of police Sarvashrestha Tripathi issued orders dismissing Chinna Mallaiah, hours after the Supreme Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea.
Mallaiah was booked for rape on April 29. “After gathering primary evidence against the inspector, he was suspended on May 1,” a police officer said.
According to the tenant’s complaint, Mallaiah sexually assaulted her by threatening to kill her on April 28. “Based on the medical examination report, it was prima facie confirmed that she was subject to sexual assault and a case was filed against the inspector,” the officer said.
Mallaiah went absconding after he was booked, even as the tenant recorded her statement before a local court. He moved the Supreme Court after the high court rejected his anticipatory bail plea on May 14.
“On Wednesday, a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice V S Mohan rejected Mallaiah’s bail. The bench refused to buy the argument of his counsel that he and the tenant were in a consensual relationship,” the officer said.
