    An unprecedented groundswell of devotees descended on this ancient temple town to visit the Ram Mandir on Tuesday as the temple, a stone marvel, was opened for devotees a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it, testing the arrangements made by the police and the Shree Ram Mandir Teerth Kshetra Trust administration.

    Extra police force deployed to manage the crowd

    Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Ayodhya Range, Praveen Kumar said the extra police force has been deployed to manage the crowd. He said people are requested to wait for thier turn and don't create panic in hurry to visit the temple.

    Another police official said the state government and other senior authorities would finally decide to put in place the routine crowd management system after analysing daily footfall in the temple as well as the rush at special occasions.

    The doors of the Ram temple in Ayodhya opened to the general public on Tuesday, a day after the consecration of the new Ram Lalla idol.

    A large number of devotees, both locals and visitors from other states, gathered near the main gateway along the Ram Path leading to the temple complex late on Monday night, seeking an early entry to the premises the following morning.

    As a large crowd gathered during the night near the ceremonial gateway that was decked up for the consecration ceremony -- police told the devotees that they would only be allowed to enter the temple the following morning when it opens for the public.
