The husband of a Bharatiya Janata Party corporator in Bengaluru was hacked to death on Wednesday by a four-member gang in the city’s Cottonpet area, said police, who suspect personal enmity led to the murder.
Kadiresh (47), husband of Rekha Kadiresh, was attacked around 3.45pm near the Muneshwara temple by the gang, when he was inspecting work at the temple for the ensuing Shivaratri festival.
Police on Thursday said many cases, including that of murder, were lodged against Kadiresh at the Cottonpet police station.
Deputy commissioner of Police (West) MN Anucheth said Kadiresh was waylaid by the gang, who arrived in an auto rickshaw, and attacked him with machetes.
The victim, who is also a BJP worker, was rushed to the Victoria Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
“Based on the complaint filed by Kadiresh’s brother Suresh, we have registered a case of murder,” Anucheth said.
The victim’s brother in his complaint named Vinay and Praveen, with whom Kadiresh had personal enmity, as the main accused.
