A Class 10 student was allegedly stabbed to death by an ex-student of a government school inside the campus in Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday, police said, adding that the attack was suspected to have stemmed from a previous rivalry.
A Class 10 student died after allegedly being stabbed by an ex-student inside a Koraput school campus during lunch break, police said.

The deceased, Mahesh Bagh, was allegedly attacked during the lunch break at Bariniput Project High School near Jayapur (formerly Jeypore). He was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he died during treatment.
According to preliminary findings, the police said that the ex-student entered the campus and called Mahesh out of his classroom. Moments later, Mahesh was allegedly stabbed with a knife.
Police said the motive behind the attack was yet to be established, though they were probing whether it was linked to an earlier enmity between the two.
Mahesh’s father, Murali Bagh, who works at a local shop, said his son had left home for school as usual on Friday morning.
Koraput Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Archita Mittal reached the hospital after receiving information.

Police said they were examining all possible angles, including the suspected past rivalry, and were working to establish the sequence of events leading to the murder.
