Gangster Dawood Lala, an alleged operative of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s gang, was arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad on Wednesday from Ahmedabad’s Juhapura area.

Apart from a murder case in Gujarat, Lala was wanted for several crimes registered in Rajasthan.
ATS sources said Lala used to run the gang’s network in Rajasthan and Gujarat. He is a relative of Sharif Khan, a close aide of Dawood, they added.
The ATS is now hopeful of finding the whereabouts of Lala’s three brothers, who are wanted for a shootout and murder in Rajsthan.
Officials said they are yet to ascertain whether his three brothers are also hiding in Ahmedabad or in some other parts of Gujarat.
According to sources, Lala -- who was wanted in at least 15 cases in Rajasthan -- had made Juhapura, a Muslim ghetto on the western bank of the Sabarmati river, his hideout for some time now.
The arrest came following intelligence inputs, they added.
