Delhi Assembly, mayor’s office receive bomb threats; police call it hoax

Delhi Police and other security agencies carried out a thorough search of the mayor's office after the threat.

The Delhi Assembly received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday morning, and it was found to be a hoax after a thorough search, police said.

The threat was received at 8.39 am, following which security agencies were alerted and checks were initiated, they said.

Sources said Assembly Speaker Bijender Gupta received the email.

The office of the mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also received a bomb threat on Tuesday, the ninth such threat received by the office, officials said.

The mayor's office had earlier written to the police commissioner, seeking an investigation into the repeated threats, it said.

After an extensive search, nothing suspicious was found at either place.
