In what appears to be a fallout of the ongoing rivalry between two gangsters, a man was shot dead in Delhi's Bawana area when he was on a morning walk with his daughter.
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Dipak, was the nephew of a jailed gangster named Manjeet Mahal, who was in a long-standing rivalry with UK-based fugitive gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu.
According to Deputy commissioner of Police (outer-north) Hareshwar V Swami, there are reasons to believe that Kapil Sangwan orchestrated the killing.
Dipak was shot dead at around 7.30 am this morning at the Nangal Thakaran village in Bawana in outer Delhi by at least two unidentified bike-borne assailants. His father was also walking a few metres behind them. The assailants fired seven to eight rounds at Dipak, and he died on the spot.
Meanwhile, his 10-year-old daughter who was with him at the time was injured after she suffered pellets on her hand. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment, and is now out of danger, a senior police officer said.
While Dipak was a jailed gangster's nephew, he himself had no criminal background or cases registered against him. According to police, he was into share trading and had finished his BTech course.

{{/usCountry}}"We have reasons to believe that the fatal attack on Dipak may have been orchestrated by Nandu. A case of firing and murder has been registered and multiple teams have been formed to nab him," the police officer said.
Dipak's body has been sent to Baba Sahab Ambedkar Hospital's mortuary, where the post mortem examination is likely to be conducted by evening.
