Gold prices in India slipped slightly on February 26, Thursday. 24-carat gold was priced at ₹16,168 per gram, down by ₹21, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹14,820 per gram, lower by ₹20. 18-carat gold was quoted at ₹12,126 per gram, registering a decline of ₹16, as per Good Returns.
India is the world’s second-largest consumer of gold after China, with most demand met through imports and recycled domestic bullion. Import duties, taxes, bond yields and movements in the dollar, along with international prices, play a key role in determining domestic gold rates.
Gold prices in metro cities
Chennai: Gold was priced at ₹16,277 per gram for 24K and ₹14,920 for 22K.
Mumbai: 24K gold stood at ₹16,168 per gram, while 22K gold was priced at ₹14,820.
Delhi: Gold rates were ₹16,183 per gram for 24K and ₹14,835 for 22K.
Kolkata: 24K gold was priced at ₹16,168 per gram, with 22K gold at ₹14,820.

The price of silver in India today is ₹285 per gram and ₹2,85,000 per kilogram, as per Good Returns.
Apart from industrial applications, silver is widely used in jewellery. India is the world’s largest consumer and a major importer of silver, with domestic prices influenced by global rates, import duties and taxes.
Silver prices in metro cities
Chennai: Silver was priced at ₹2,950 per 10 grams.
Mumbai: Silver stood at ₹2,850 per 10 grams.
Delhi: Silver was priced at ₹2,850 per 10 grams.
Kolkata: Silver stood at ₹2,850 per 10 grams.
Bangalore: Silver was priced at ₹2,850 per 10 grams.
Hyderabad: Silver stood at ₹2,950 per 10 grams.
Global market cues
Gold rose in international markets as traders assessed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the impact of US tariffs on global trade. Spot gold climbed 0.5% to $5,188.76 an ounce, extending gains after bullion rose nearly 6% over the last six sessions and nearly 20% so far this year, Bloomberg reported.
Silver advanced 0.9% to $89.99 per ounce, while platinum and palladium also recorded gains, while US gold futures for April delivery slipped 0.5% to $5,199.20, both metals touching three-week highs in the previous session, as per Reuters.
