Haryana: Godwoman goes on shooting spree at wedding in Karnal, kills one

A woman was killed and three others seriously injured when a godwoman and her private securitymen went on a celebratory shooting spree at a wedding in Karnal, police said.

The incident took place on Tuesday at Savitrii Lawns marriage palace near the railway station in Karnal town, 140km from Chandigarh.

The victim and the wounded had come to attend the wedding ceremony where Sadhvi Deva Thakur and her accomplices started the shooting spree with their weapons. Several rounds were fired by them, said police, quoting eyewitnesses.

Karnal is also the assembly constituency of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar who heads the BJP government in the state.

Police said that further investigations were in progress and raids were being conducted to nab the accused.
