Amid row over Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu on Sunday demanded renaming the prestigious university after Raja Mahendra Pratap, “who donated his land to build AMU for the education of youth of the country”.

Abhimanyu was speaking at a public function in Rewari, where he made the demand.
“It is so unfortunate that Jinnah, who divided our country, has a portrait at AMU but Raja Mahendra Pratap, who made the biggest contribution in building the university, has been forgotten. His portrait has even not been installed at AMU,” he said.
The Aligarh Muslim University has been witnessing protests allegedly by right-Hindu groups, who have demanded removal of Pakistan-founder Jinnah’s portrait from the university.
