It is a dream come true for cricket enthusiast, Akshay Chugh, to secure the second rank in All India IIT JEE (Advanced).
Restless to know the scores of ICC Champions Trophy India-South Africa match on Sunday, Akshay said, “I had to give up on a lot of things, video games was one of them, to concentrate on my studies and dedicate most of the hours of my day there. But, cricket, that I would go back to every now and then.”
Akshay Chugh, a student of Delhi Public School, Pune, secured the second position in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2017, announced on Sunday, June 11. He bagged the seventh position in IIT JEE Main by scoring 345 out of 366.
“Making sacrifices for to realise your dream is totally fine. Now after the results, I’ll catch up with all that I had left,” he added.
But it is the sacrifices of his parents that he feels are beyond measure. “While preparing for an exam like the IIT, we often lose out many things, health being one of them. It’s my advise to never overdo. Devoid of sleep and overburdened with tension, reaching a point of exhaustion is likely to happen. But it is the parents who come to rescue,” Akshay said.
Agreeing to the same, father Vikas Chugh attributed all the parental hard work and support to his mother Ritu Chugh. “I have done all that I could, from financial help to being a guide wherever I could, but the amount of hard work my wife has put onto him, can’t be explained...”

{{/usCountry}}As a father, he says all he tried to do is to be accommodative and let Akshay follow his dreams. “My son has always been exceptional, especially in Maths. Now, when I look at him, it feels like he has actually realised my dream,” Vikas said.
