Jind man on the run after allegedly poisoning 3 minor daughters to death

The police initially suspected that a woman attempted suicide and had also poisoned her daughters. Later, one of the daughters regained consciousness and gave her statement to the police saying that all of them were forcefully poisoned by their father.

Police in Jind launched a hunt on Thursday for a man for allegedly poisoning his three minor daughters to death. The condition of his wife and another daughter, who were also poisoned, is critical.

The deceased have been identified as Komal, 17, Kafi, 14 and Kiran, 7. One died on Wednesday and two others on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Kashmiri Ram of Bighana village, is allegedly an alcoholic and poisoned his family in an inebriated state, police said. He has been booked on charges of murder and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He is a daily wage earner.

Kashmiri’s wife Suman and four minor daughters were rushed to hospital on Tuesday. The police initially suspected that the woman had attempted suicide and had also poisoned her daughters. All of them were shifted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak, 50 km away.

Two days into the treatment, one of the daughters, identified as Komal, regained consciousness and gave her statement to the police saying that all of them were forcefully poisoned by their father.

Police said efforts are on to nab the accused who is on the run. The bodies were handed over to the girls’ paternal grandparents after autopsy.
