The body of slain Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable Ram Mehar Sandhu, who died in a Maoist ambush, will reach his native village Kheri Mansingh of Karnal district by late evening Tuesday.
Ram Mehar (41) was among the 25 paramilitary CRPF personnel killed in an ambush by Maoist militants in Sukma region of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
Martyr Ram Mehar had joined the CRPF 19 years ago and was scheduled to retire next month.
He is survived by his wife Poonam, two children father Puran Chand Sandhu and mother Mam Kaur.
His son is studying in Class XII and daughter is in Class VIII.
Martyr’s father Puran Chand said Indian soldiers are being killed due to failure of the government.
“Though the attack on the border is a different issue but soldiers are being killed inside our country, the government should take this issue seriously. Our government has failed to do anything to save our soldiers,” he added.
He said that the family members got a call around 11 pm last night confirming their son’s death.

Meanwhile, Karnal deputy commissioner Mandeep Brar confirmed that the body of the martyr likely to reach in the village by the Tuesday evening.
