New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged large-scale electoral rigging in the 2024 national election.
Citing alleged discrepancies, Gandhi said at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025 in Delhi, “We are going to prove how a Lok Sabha election can be, and was, rigged. I can say this now because I have 100% proof. Whoever I’ve shown it to has literally fallen off their chair.”
This comes a day after he said that his party had uncovered an “atom bomb” of evidence against the ECI. Gandhi, while talking to the media outside Parliament, said, “We dug deep because the EC wasn’t helping. What we found is an atom bomb. When it explodes, you won’t be able to see the Election Commission in India.”
The ECI refuted the allegations, calling them “baseless.” “The Election Commission ignores such baseless allegations being made daily and, despite the daily threats being given, asks all election officials to ignore such irresponsible statements and work fairly and transparently,” the poll body said in a statement on August 1.

{{/usCountry}}Gandhi on Saturday said the Congress began scrutinising the electoral process after being “obliterated” in the Maharashtra assembly elections, months after making significant gains in the Lok Sabha polls in the same state. The pattern raised suspicions, prompting an independent investigation that he said lasted six months.
“We have such proof that we will show the country the institution of the Election Commission no longer exists, it has disappeared,” Gandhi claimed, adding that only after prolonged pressure did the ECI hand over “scan-proof” hard copies of the voters’ list, instead of digital data.
According to Gandhi, the probe revealed that out of 6.5 lakh votes cast, 1.5 lakh were allegedly fake. “We believe close to 70 to 100 seats were rigged. Even if only 15 seats were tampered with, Narendra Modi would not be the Prime Minister of India,” he said.
“If it were not for the lawyers, freedom for India wouldn’t have been a reality,” he said, adding that the legal architecture that shaped the country’s freedom struggle is now being systematically dismantled.
