In her plea, Bindu Sampath — the mother of Nimisha alias Fathima — said her daughter was indoctrinated, forcibly converted and taken to an IS-dominated area in Afghanistan.

She sought a joint probe by the NIA, IB and RAW into the recent ‘forced’ conversions in the state and their subsequent alleged recruitment by the IS.

“Nimisha was trapped by a youth who later refused to marry her saying a true Muslim can’t marry a convert. Later she was forced to marry a Christian convert. In her application, Sampath also said the state was fast turning “a hub of jihadi activities”. She said the government should investigate such incidents of ‘forced conversions’ thoroughly and neutralise the threat to the country and its social fabric
