Two persons, including a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) functionary Ganesh Chukkal, have been arrested in connection with a cheating and forgery case related to a leased property.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade of Zone 10 said Chukkal and his accomplice, Sameer Sawant, were arrested after a first information report (FIR) was registered by a firm Melronia Hospitality Pvt Ltd, in which actor Akshay Kumar’s sister Alka Bhatia Hiranandani is a director.
According to the FIR, the firm leased a luxury flat in Powai to the suspects in June 2018 for a monthly rent of ₹2.25 lakh.
The FIR said the tenant stopped paying rent in October 2019 and refused to vacate the property. It said the suspects forged the signatures of Alka, Surendra, and Niranjan Hiranandani and changed the three-year lease agreement into a fake 30-year lease document.
In the FIR, Alka said they came to know about the forgery when the tenant submitted it in court to claim that he was being pressured to vacate the flat despite an agreement for 30 years, said the police.
