Mumbai biker, 24, killed after motorcycle hit by heavy vehicle in Chhattisgarh

A 24-year-old woman from Mumbai was killed on Wednesday morning after her motorcycle was hit by an unidentified heavy vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district, police said. She was part of a 20-member biking group that was travelling to the Bastar region.

The accident took place around 6 am at Markatola Ghat under Purur police station limits on National Highway 30, roughly 100 km from state capital Raipur.
Police identified the victim as Riddhi Thakkar, a resident of Borivali (West) in Mumbai. She was riding a Bajaj Avenger as part of a touring group comprising motorcyclists from Maharashtra and other states who had gathered in Raipur before heading towards Bastar.
According to police officials, an unidentified heavy vehicle rammed into Thakkar’s motorcycle, leaving her critically injured. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision. Efforts are underway to trace the vehicle and identify the driver, a police officer said.
Fellow riders alerted emergency services via the Dial 112 helpline, following which an emergency response vehicle rushed Thakkar to the Charama Community Health Centre in neighbouring Kanker district.
As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to a private hospital in Dhamtari district, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment, officials added.
