Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betrayal, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the no-confidence motion was majority versus morality. Naidu said that the Prime Minister himself in pre-election rallies had promised special status for Andhra Pradesh and additional fund for Amravati, capital of Andhra Pradesh.
“I came all the way from Amravati to Delhi to explain to the nation why we moved no-confidence motion and also what we expected from the NDA government...We know that they have majority, the motion is majority versus morality,” said Naidu.
The motion was moved by Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh that was bifurcated in 2014. Naidu said that before election they had thought they would need one national party for the special status and decided to support BJP.
“Yesterday PM told very clearly that it is because of 14th finance commission he is unable to extend it...You cannot betray us. We are wounded, we are suffering. Government of India has to do justice [to Andhra Pradesh]...,” said Naidu. He didn’t make it clear whether he will support Congress in the upcoming election but said there is no question of supporting NDA now.
