Alleging that Chhattisgarh has become a safe haven for criminals from other states, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday slammed the Congress government in the state over law-and-order situations during the ongoing assembly session.
The BJP MLAs, including Brijmohan Agrawal, Shivratan Sharma and Ajay Chandrakar, said the state ranked fourth in the list for most murders in the country, while incidents of rape, murder, looting and blackmailing were on the rise in the state.
Members from the BJP, who is the main opposition party in the state, raised slogans against the Bhupesh Baghel government, forcing the assembly chair to temporarily adjourn proceedings of the house.

“Not a single day goes by without a report of some incident of stabbing in the state. Fearing action by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, criminals have fled from there and taken shelter in Chhattisgarh,” leader of opposition in the state assembly, Dharmlal Kaushik, alleged.
BJP MLAs further claimed that gangs involved in the theft of coal, iron and diesel were active in the state, and demanded a discussion on the matter by moving an adjournment motion, which was rejected by the chair and senior Congress MLA Dhanendra Sahu.

Accusing the Congress establishment of not fulfilling poll promises made to government employees, BJP MLAs moved another adjournment motion in this regard.
