Pak opens fire at Arnia yet again, BSF retaliates ‘strongly’

Though an intelligence officer said BSF assistant commandant Gaurav Drall suffered injuries in the incident, the defence agency denied it. An unconfirmed report stated that Parveen Kumar, son of Jabowal resident Kasturi Lal, was also wounded.

Pakistan violated the ceasefire for the second time on Thursday, targeting Indian posts and villages along the international border in Jammu’s Arnia sub-sector.

A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer said Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling around 6.30 pm. “We are retaliating strongly,” he added.

Though an intelligence officer said BSF assistant commandant Gaurav Drall suffered injuries in the incident, the defence agency denied it. An unconfirmed report stated that Parveen Kumar, son of Jabowal resident Kasturi Lal, was also wounded.

Earlier, five civilians suffered injuries when Pakistan Rangers targeted the same area on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
