The promotion of trade, technology and tourism, and making diplomacy future-ready, were among the focus areas of the Heads of Mission Conference addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
The 11th Heads of Mission Conference, organised by the external affairs ministry from April 28 to 30, brought together ambassadors and high commissioners from across the world to assess the country’s diplomatic efforts globally, promote India’s national interests abroad, and chart a roadmap for future-ready diplomacy.
Modi addressed the conference, themed “Reforming Indian Diplomacy for 2047”, on Thursday, external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on social media.
“Presentations were made to PM on future-ready diplomacy, promotion of the 3Ts (Trade, Technology and Tourism) and the amplification of the Bharat story,” he said.
Modi “heard insights from Heads of Missions, and perspectives from senior and young diplomats on strengthening India’s global engagement”. He also “shared his thoughts and ideas and provided guidance on India’s diplomatic engagement in order to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047”, Jaiswal said.

{{/usCountry}}Over the course of three days, the heads of missions participated in brainstorming sessions, tabletop exercises and thematic discussions that touched on geopolitical developments, emerging technologies, trade, technology and tourism, the “Bharat story”, and future-ready diplomacy, the ministry said in a statement.
