Prime Minister Modi pays tributes to those who participated in the Quit India movement and said the movement brought people from all sections of society together.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Tuesday to pay tributes to those who participated in the Quit India movement on the occasion of its anniversary. He said the movement brought people from all sections of society together. PM Modi also posted a picture of Mahatma Gandhi at the start of the Quit India movement.

"Remembering all those who took part in the Quit India Movement under Bapu's leadership and strengthened our freedom struggle," PM Modi tweeted.

Gandhi gave the “do or die” slogan in his Quit India speech delivered in Bombay. Though the then British government tried to break off the movement by jailing top leaders from Congress, there was strong resistance that followed.

PM Modi also shared socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan's remark that "August 9 has become a burning symbol of our national revolution".
"Inspired by Bapu, the Quit India Movement witnessed remarkable participation from people across all sections of society including greats like JP and Dr. Lohia," Modi tweeted.
