A senior AIADMK leader, owing allegiance to party general secretary VK Sasikala, was booked on Monday on charges of issuing a ‘death threat’ to acting chief minister O Panneerselvam recently.

Former AIADMK MLA VP Kalairajan, who is also a a district secretary in Chennai, was booked under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal intimidation, police said.
Kalairajan alleged “political vendetta” behind police filing the case.
Kalairajan had recently made some controversial remarks against Panneerselvam after his revolt against Sasikala.
On February 5, AIADMK general secretary Sasikala was elected as the AIADMK legislature party leader, a step towards her elevation as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
However, two days later, Panneerselvam raised a revolt against her, alleging he was forced to step down.
