Three people were killed and two others injured after a pickup truck overturned on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Saturday morning, police said.
The accident occurred near chainage marker 96 in the Govindgarh police station area after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Preliminary findings suggest that the pickup overturned after its driver lost control. However, the circumstances that caused the driver to lose control have not yet been established.
The five occupants, who worked at a nursery, were travelling for work when the vehicle overturned, Govindgarh Station House Officer (SHO) Dhirendra Singh said. He added that police went to the spot after being alerted about the accident.
Police and local residents pulled the victims from the damaged vehicle. They were taken to Govindgarh Hospital, where doctors declared three of them dead on arrival. The two injured people are undergoing treatment.
Police identified the deceased as Sahadab, Sabahat and Afsaf, all residents of Mawana in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district. Police were collecting further information about the victims and contacting their families.
Their bodies have been sent for postmortem. Police inspected the site and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
