Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh on Monday resigned from his party amid a leadership tussle in the Telangana unit of the party.
The decision came shortly after media reports suggested that N Ramchander Rao is set to be the new president of BJP's Telangana unit.
The BJP MLA, in a letter addressed to G Kishan Reddy, President of BJP Telangana unit, said that the decision to appoint Ramchander Rao as the BJP state president came as a ‘shock and disappointment’ to him.
“As per media reports, Shri Ramchander Rao is set to be appointed as the new BJP State President for Telangana. This decision has come as a shock and disappointment, not just to me, but to lakhs of Karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have stood by the party through every high and low,” Singh said in the letter shared by him on X (formerly Twitter).
“There are many capable senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs within our state who have tirelessly worked for the growth of BJP and who have the strength, credibility, and connect to lead the party forward,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}He, however, added that he remain fully committed to the Hindutva ideology and “continue to stand with the Hindu community.”
“While I may be stepping away from the party, I remain fully committed to the ideology of Hindutva and the service of our Dharma and the people of Goshamahal. I will continue to raise my voice and stand with the Hindu community with even greater strength,” he said.
‘BJP capable of forming govt in Telangana’
T Raja Singh, speaking after his resignation, said he faced several difficulties after joining BJP, adding that he was targeted personally.
He also said that the BJP can form a government in Telangana if it considers what kind of person is appointed as the state president.
“I always keep telling the party that the BJP can form a government in Telangana. Today, the party workers, booth-level workers, are working for the party. However, when it comes to the declaration of the state BJP president, the party should consider what kind of person should be appointed as the state presiden,” Singh told ANI.
“We need a state unit president who is aggressive. The people of Telangana, in particular, like those who talk about Hindutva...I joined the BJP in 2014, but since then, I have faced numerous difficulties within the party, including being targeted personally and having my constituency targeted,” he added.
Thakur Raja Singh, currently an MLA from the Goshamahal Assembly constituency, is known for his controversial speeches and has frequently faced criminal cases.
Earlier in April this year, two cases were registered against the Telangana MLA for allegedly using unparliamentary language and issuing criminal intimidation to the police during a Ram Navami procession.
