    The Telangana government on Wednesday stepped up relief measures at Khammam and other places hit by heavy rains and floods.

    Meanwhile, the authorities issued the first warning for floods at the temple town of Bhadrachalam as the water level in the Godavari river reached 43 ft on Tuesday afternoon.

    Bhadradri-Kothagudem district Collector Jitesh V Patil asked officials to shift the residents of vulnerable localities at Bhadrachalam to relief camps, official sources said. (PTI)

    "The loss of tens of innocent lives is very tragic. Under the direction of the Chief Ministers of the Telugu states, both governments are working hard to improve the situation. We all need to be involved in relief efforts in some way.

    "As part of this process, I am announcing my contribution of one crore rupees (50 lakhs each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana CM Relief Fund) to help the relief of the people in the two states.     “I’m saddened by the loss and suffering caused by the devastating rains in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In these challenging times, I humbly donate 1 crore in total to the CM Relief Funds of both states to support the relief efforts. Praying for everyone’s safety,” he wrote.

    Telangana flood live updates: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday accused Telangana CM Revanth Reddy of providing incorrect data on the fatalities caused by recent floods.

    KTR shared a post on X, listing 31 deaths and alleging that the government had “failed to do a proper assessment.”

    “You (referring to CM Reddy) know that is disrespectful to a person? Ignoring his death, lying about their death, not considering their death I request the Telangana government to stop peddling lies. You had announced yesterday that only 16 people died. But please ask your team to check this list and help all the families,” KTR wrote on X.

    “If you released wrong data because you aren't aware - I pity you! And if you have released the wrong data because you wanted to cover up your inadequacies - I abhor you! Shame on you!” KTR added further.

    After touring areas such as Karunagiri, Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Venkateshwara Nagar, and Bokkalagadda on Monday, the MLAs convened a press conference at the Khammam BRS party office. During the meeting, former Minister Harish Rao strongly criticized the state government's response to the flooding, according to a BRS release.

    Telangana flood live updates: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy visited some of the inundated areas in their respective states.

    Following his visit to flood-affected regions, Reddy conducted a review meeting with ministers and officials at the Mahabubabad district Collectorate. He instructed officials across the state to compile reports on encroachments on water bodies, such as lakes.

    Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan said, “As my contribution, I am donating one crore rupees to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Every person who wishes for the well-being of the state should assist in such times. The government is spending 80 crore on the affected district. We must create a master plan for every city to prevent such disasters in the future.”
