The Relief Commissionerate said here that the eleven sunstroke deaths were reported from Khammam district.

As per the Meteorological office, the monsoon is expected to arrive in the state on June 15. However, some parts of the state, which had been reeling under intense heat for four weeks, experienced some relief on account of the pre-monsson showers.

The worst-affected districts are West and East Godavari districts where 261 and 199 sunstroke deaths respectively were reported followed by Nalgonda in the drought-prone Telangana region which reported 192 deaths and Guntur district 184.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, addressing addressing the District Collectors' conference, which ended here today, advised the district administration to take up the relief works and provide safe drinking water in rural areas.
