17-yr-old alleges sexual harassment at father's hands

A 17-year-old minor girl, a student of class 11 at a reputed private school in Ghaziabad, has levied allegations of physical, mental and sexual harassment against her father. Peeyush Khandelwal reports.

A 17-year-old minor girl, a student of class 11 at a reputed private school in Ghaziabad, has levied allegations of physical, mental and sexual harassment against her father.

Her father works as a radio operator at a Noida police control room. An FIR has been registered in the case.

In her complaint, the girl, a resident of Ghaziabad, has stated that her father had tried to touch her private parts several times in the past five-six years and that for the past few months has been pressuring her to get into a sexual relationship with him.

"I was beaten up several times. He also threatened to stop my studies whenever I objected to his behaviour. He has molested me several times and has been sending me vulgar SMSes. He has also threatened my mother when I revealed the incident to her," the victim wrote in her complaint - which runs into two pages - to the police.

The victim has also stated that more than a month ago, her father had tried to take off her clothes when she came out of the bathroom. "I had kicked him to save myself," said the letter. The girl has also asked senior police officials to give her protection and also agreed to submit the incriminating SMSes.

Kavi Nagar police station officials said that a case under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC was registered after the complaint was received.
