On Tuesday, the Gurgaon traffic police slapped a penalty of more than R10 lakh during a special drive against vehicles using tinted glasses and black films. The special drive was launched following the Supreme Court order putting a ban on the use of black films on any vehicle across the country on May 4.

Around 856 challans were issued against drivers and the police collected a revenue of R8.5-lakh from these unruly drivers alone.

More than 2,152 motorists were prosecuted across the city by the traffic police on Tuesday, the highest figure in a single day — both in terms of the generated revenue and the maximum number of challans as yet. Sunil Thapliyal
