Acting on specific information that two ultras were hiding in a house at Dori Bagla village, about 160 km from here, a team of Rashtriya Rifles and STF launched a search operation this morning, police said.

When asked to surrender, the militants opened fire on the security personnel who retaliated and killed two ultras of LeT outfit-- identified as Nissar Ahmed of Doda and Mohammad Rafiq Nazni of Kishtwar district-- in an hour-long gunbattle, they said.

The security forces also rescued the family of Abdul Samad in whose house the militants were holed up.

However, Samad's daughter was injured in the cross fire and later succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Two AK rifles, three magazines and a damaged mobile phone was recovered from the slain militants.
