Manzar Alam used to supply SIM cards of different telecom operators that would be activated for use without the need of any identity proof.

The police have taken him into a one-day remand for interrogation. They have also recovered 44 SIM cards of all mobile companies such as Reliance, Vodafone, Airtel, MTS and Idea. A probe to find the source of these SIM cards in Gurgaon is underway.

Alam, who belongs to Darbhanga in Bihar, works with a private company and has been staying in Gurgaon for the past two years. He used to sell these mobile SIM cards to employees of his company at a price of R50.

On an average, he used to sell 10 SIM cards daily, the police said. The police had received information about a man who was selling SIM cards near Sector 5 which were already activated.

The Manesar police team, under the leadership of ASI Surinder Singh, caught Alam red-handed when he was selling a SIM card to a worker at a private company at 7.30pm.
