In an effort to provide the Marathi theatre and culture a wider platform, the next Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Natya Sammelan will be organised in New Jersey, sources said.
Inaugurating the 89th Marathi Natya Sammelan in Beeed on Saturday, President of the Akhil Bhartiya Natya Parishad and noted actor Mohan Joshi said at least, one meet of the Parishad in every three years should be held on foreign land to take the Marathi theatre and culture to the whole world.
He said that the next meeting of the Parishad would be held in New Jersey in the United States from May 29 to 30 in 2010.
The meet started today with a procession in which a large number of schoolchildren and artistes participated wearing traditional costumes.
Various cultural programmes were held on the occasion, including Lawani (Maharashtrian folk dance), while many prominent artistes like, Surekha Punekar, Sanjivini Mule Nagarkar, Maya Khutegaonkar, Jyoti Joshi and Gloria Samson have also performed.
