Asserting that her party had performed well, AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa said the prospect of a coalition ruling Tamil Nadu for the first time was a "bad thing" for the state.
Meeting the media for the first time after her party's defeat in the assembly polls, she said, "The DMK will not last long. The future belongs to the AIADMK."
Describing today as a "sad day" for the state, she said, "A coalition is a bad thing for Tamil Nadu. It should not have happened to the state. The DMK government which is to be sworn in tomorrow is susceptible to pulls and pressures."
The DMK won 96 seats in the 234-member assembly and is set to form government with the support of its allies including the Congress.
Jayalalithaa, who was dislodged from the chief ministership, said the AIADMK had increased its share of votes.
"We performed well and increased our percentage of votes," she told reporters at the party headquarters.
Jayalalithaa, who was elected to the assembly from Andipatti, said her partymen had advised her against attending the House as they apprehended insults and humiliation for her, as had happened in 1989.

{{/usCountry}}"The persons who attacked me inside the House are going to be ministers. The DMK is a barbaric crowd. I will attend the House only when it is absolutely necessary," she said.
