Having accepted the near-impossible challenge of governing the capital with a minority government, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) chief minister designate Arvind Kejriwal and his team are all set to work on a self-imposed two month deadline to deliver on promises made to the voters.
Given its bitter equation with the Congress, on whose outside support the yet to be formed government will depend for its survival, the AAP leadership is convinced that its tenure will be shortlived.
Kejriwal, who surprised his political opponents and analysts by leading his party to a stunning debut of winning 28 seats in the 70 member Assembly, has already completed a series of meetings with experts and officers in the power and water sectors.
The AAP is now working on a plan of implementing its promises in a phased manner and has prepared a roadmap to complete its important decision-making exercise and major announcements before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections is enforced. The model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls is expected to be in place by the first week of March next year.

The party manifesto states that there would be a four-month roadmap to do so.Kejriwal and his party colleagues are not willing to divulge their strategy on how the issue would be resolved. The AAP leadership says everybody concerned should wait till the government is sworn in and the ministers begin their work.

{{/usCountry}}“The fact remains 60 of the 70 MLAs in the new assembly are committed to a minimum of 30% reduction in power tariffs,” said senior AAP leader Ashish Talwar.He said the AAP has made a commitment of 20% more reduction in power tariffs than the BJP, but the BJP is now keeping mum over its electoral promise in a bid to attack Kejriwal.
