Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will not play in the remaining three one-day internationals against South Africa due to a pulled abdomen muscle, a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said Sunday.
The 33-year-old leg-spinner was injured while practicing at the Gaddafi Stadium Saturday evening, spokesman Samiul Hasan said. "He is out of the remaining three one-day internationals against South Africa and needs a rest of at least seven to 10 days," Hasan said.
Ahmed was originally selected for all five one-day internationals - returning to the national squad for the first time since 2000 - after claiming 105 wickets for English champions Sussex in this season's county championship.
However, on Friday Ahmad gave away 65 runs off 10 overs in Pakistan's eight-run win over South Africa.
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is also a doubtful starter for the third one-day international at Faisalabad on Tuesday after he pulled a hamstring during his innings Sunday, Hasan said. "He has a 45-55 chance to play in Faisalabad," Hasan said.
