Aprilia motorscooters to make India debut

Hero Motors will bring the world class Aprilia motorscooters SR 50 and Sonic 50 GP to India under the brand name Hero Aprilia. The 75 cc two stroke SONIC 50 GP will be launched in December 2004 and more powerful, 92 cc scooterate SR 50 will be launched by January 2005. The scooterate SR 50 has a Ditech direct engine technology.

The 75 cc two stroke SONIC 50 GP will be launched in December 2004 and the more powerful 92 cc scooterate SR 50 will be launched by January 2005.

The scooterate SR 50 has a Ditech direct engine technology in addition to liquid-cooled horizontal single cylinder two stroke engine whereas Sonic GP has liquid-cooled horizontal single cylinder two stoke engine and has a continuous automatic convertor gear box.

Italy-based Aprilia is Europe's second largest producer of motorcycles and scooters. The partnership that it has entered into with Hero Motors is in the form of a trademark and licensing agreement. Aprilia will transfer technological know-how, which would include design, engineering, testing, manufacturing and quality standards.
