Armymen should be exempted from I-T purview: Sukhbir

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that army personnel should be exempted from income tax purview and that he would speak to the Centre in this regard.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said that army personnel should be exempted from income tax purview and that he would speak to the Centre in this regard.

"I am surprised to know that income tax is levied on army personnel. I will speak with the Union Finance Minister on this matter," Sukhbir said while addressing an alumni meet at a Kapurthala-based army school.

Terming the school as a "nursery of the armed forces", the Akali leader sought for a development plan of the basic structure of the institute and assured full monetary help in this regard.
